Right before the July 4th weekend, one of our team members had a fantastic idea — how to beat the heat with your summer floral. And after taking some time off for a long weekend in Sequoia and Yosemite, I realized it was not only fantastic, but super timely! It’s shaping up to be a toasty season and with summer weddings, parties, and gatherings; keeping floral fresh and beautiful can be a challenge.

So, our  Louise Georges Yves team is ready to offer up some beautiful blooms and unexpected alternatives that will help you beat the heat.

Freesia, Peonies & Sunflowers are great picks! And Calla Lilies, Orchids & Roses won’t disappoint.

Haute Flowers

And if you are open to non floral options, there are some great options that will weather the heat while providing the added benefit of letting you put them together days or weeks in advance of your event!

Succulents naturally retain water so they’re good to go all day long (or all month for that matter). Potted herbs offer a rustic, outdoorsy spin on the traditional centerpiece. Lastly, heat hearty fruit can give a pop of color to any centerpiece.

Haute Plants

So now you have a list of some definite “do’s”, but watch out for these “don’ts”. Think twice before using these beauties during hot months.

Hydrangea is prone to wilting in summer heat & Tulips will be forced into a less than appealing stage of forced opened, floppiness!

Not So Haute Flowers

Hope these tips help you to stay cool as a cucumber at your next event!

Cheers,

Emily Louise & The LGY Team
